Scope & Sequence

Balancing Acts is a vertically-aligned, interdisciplinary early adolescent curriculum, designed to be piloted across the course of multiple, consecutive school years. The curriculum launches with a foundational framework, guiding students through the development of a basic mental health literacy.

In subsequent units, students explore themes centered on: stressors, coping mechanisms, grit and resilience, the nervous system, mindfulness, the impact of grief, social wellness, parasocial relationships, and more.

Implementation

Bringing Balancing Acts to life in your school begins with belief.

The belief that educators have the ability—if not also the obligation—to make an impact when it comes to addressing the needs of today’s young people. Balancing Acts is a cohesive and complete curricular program, designed to be taught in tandem with other academic core subjects.

Schools that invest in Balancing Acts receive an in-person training program for classroom educators, along with a comprehensive scope and sequence, extensive lesson plan materials, and digital instructional slide decks.

“I loved learning about coping mechanisms to help me push back my stressors. It helped me learn about methods which made stressors less effective against me.”
